Vicki Gold Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

My mission is to create a supportive, collaborative learning environment that emphasizes the kids and young adults’ positive gifts and talents. Through the Magic of Technology, computers can become the vehicle that propels students into mainstream society. Kids can become recognized by their peers for their abilities and strengths through their game making and animation skills. Young adults can turn their technology skills into employable software engineering careers.

Vicki Gold Computer Classes:

Provide fun computer game making classes for kids and young adults in Object Oriented Programming. The class provides a social environment for students to learn and share their own personal programming successes and discoveries. Gaining knowledge from others gives the student first hand experience of the advantages of collaborative learning.
Provide classes for students who want to build their skills in team building. These skills are essential to survive in today's software "team-work" environment. In these classes students will learn:

To deepen team experiences by working on authentic group projects.
These projects are intended to enhance students' credentials.
Learn pragmatic software techniques that today's companies demand such as the importance of following convention, internal and external documentation and testing practices.

Learn beginning level java by creating computer games.
Advanced programming classes will delve deeper into Object Oriented design and advanced programming and java concepts. Students will create a mock Software Company. Classes will be held as company meetings where progress reports will be delivered. Open source projects will be investigated as potential group projects.
Provide Community Collaborative Web sites where students and their families can post and share their games and comments.

Classes: create a fun, collaborative environment where kids and young adults learn and share their personal successes and discoveries. Classes are small, 3 to 4 students, grouped according to age, level of expertise and compatibility. Although classes are planned well in advance, each class is customized according to the technical expertise, creative abilities and students' interests. Significant emphasis is placed on expanding each student’s unique talents.

Private Tutoring: is available for kids and young adults of all levels and computer needs. I teach computer programming and game design with state of the art graphic and programming environments. In addition, I teach Flash and Microsoft Office applications.
